भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश डीवाई चंद्रचूड़ ने औपचारिक रूप से न्यायमूर्ति संजीव खन्ना को अपने उत्तराधिकारी के रूप में प्रस्तावित किया है। केंद्र सरकार को भेजे गए एक पत्र में मुख्य न्यायाधीश चंद्रचूड़ ने कहा कि चूंकि वह 11 नवंबर को पद छोड़ रहे हैं, इसलिए न्यायमूर्ति खन्ना उनके उत्तराधिकारी होंगे। सरकार की मंजूरी मिलने पर न्यायमूर्ति खन्ना भारत के 51वें मुख्य न्यायाधीश बन जाएंगे। उनका कार्यकाल छह महीने का है, जो 13 मई, 2025 को समाप्त होगा। उसके बाद उनकी सेवानिवृत्ति होगी।

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has formally proposed Justice Sanjiv Khanna as his successor. In a letter sent to the central government, Chief Justice Chandrachud said that since he is stepping down on November 11, Justice Khanna will be his successor. Justice Khanna will become the 51st Chief Justice of India if the government approves. His term is for six months, which will end on May 13, 2025. He will retire after that.
