उत्तरी सिक्किम में ल्होनक झील (Lhonak Lake) पर बादल फटने से बड़ी तबाही मची है। बादल फटने के कारण्‍ तीस्ता नदी में अचानक बाढ़ (Sikkim Flood) आ गई। इस घटना में अब तक 14 लोगों की मौत की पुष्टि हो चुकी है। वहीं सेना के 23 जवान समेत 102 लोग लापता बताए गए हैं। हादसे के बाद द‍िख रहा मंजर बाढ़ की भयावहता बयां कर रहा है। ऐसे में बड़ा सवाल यह है क‍ि अचानक यह तबाही कैसे मची। क्या मंगलवार को नेपाल और उसके आस-पास के क्षेत्र में आया जोरदार भूकंप ही सिक्किम में ल्होनक झील पर बादल फटने और तीस्ता नदी में अचानक आई बाढ़ की असली वजह है? फ‍िलहाल इस बात का पता वैज्ञान‍िक लगा रहे हैं। दरअसल ल्‍होनक झील पर बादल के फटने से चुंगथांग बांध भी बह गया।
