AWhile the sequel to 2009 Hollywood blockbuster Avatar was slated to release on December 18, 2020, the producers have now postponed the release by a year.

Avatar 2 will hit the screens on December 17, 2021. The makers are planning to release an installment every other year from there. December 22, 2023 will see Avatar 3, with Avatar 4 on December 19, 2025, and Avatar 5 on December 17, 2027. The year Avatar won’t release, Disney is planning to round up the year with a Star Wars movie.

James Cameron, who had directed Avatar, will also helm the sequels. The makers have confirmed that the story will pick up eight years after the first film and their protagonist Jake will now have a family. The first avatar remains the top grossing movie of all times with a global collection of $2.7 billion.

The names of the sequel have also got leaked. Reportedly, they are named Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa.

The sequel is releasing twelve years after the first film. We are quite excited, are you?
