Singer Mika Singh, who had courted controversy a few years back by forcibly kissing starlet Rakhi Sawant at his birthday party, has now drawn the ire of the MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) because of his tweet.

From what we have heard, Singh is scheduled to perform in Houston (USA) on August 12, ahead of the Independence Days of Pakistan and India on August 14 and 15 respectively. In a video that he uploaded on Twitter, Mika urged his fans in Houston to join him in celebrating the Independence Days of India and 'Apna Pakistan'.

Responding to this, MNS leader Ameya Khopkar wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, demanding a ban on Singh. In his letter, Khopkar wrote, “Mika Singh is going to perform for Pakistan Independence Day celebration in USA on August 14. The revenue which will get generated by this event may get used for terror activities against India. Participation of Indian artist in such program is nothing but seditious activity. Mika is going to sing Pakistani patriotic songs despite knowing the current tension between India and Pakistan. We condemn this act of Mika Singh. We request you to not only ban his future performances in Maharashtra but also request you to escalate this matter with the MHA and ask Home Minister to cancel his visit to USA.”

The MNS also organized protest against Mika Singh in Mumbai and burnt down effigies in various parts of the city, following which, the police detained few MNS workers in Dadar.
