Alfred Schnittke: Suite in stile antico (1972)

Alfred Schnittke (Russian: Альфре́д Га́рриевич Шни́тке, Alfred Garrievič Šnitke; November 24, 1934 – August 3, 1998) was a Soviet and Russian composer. Schnittke's early music shows the strong influence of Dmitri Shostakovich. He developed a polystylistic technique in works such as the epic Symphony No. 1 (1969–1972) and his first concerto grosso (1977). In the 1980s, Schnittke's music began to become more widely known abroad with the publication of his second (1980) and third (1983) string quartets and the String Trio (1985); the ballet Peer Gynt (1985–1987); the third (1981), fourth (1984), and fifth (1988) symphonies; and the viola (1985) and first cello (1985–1986) concertos. As his health deteriorated, Schnittke's music started to abandon much of the extroversion of his polystylism and retreated into a more withdrawn, bleak style.
The Duo Piccolol-Stoppiello debut in Rome in April 2015, at the Academic Hall of the "Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music". He got the first prize at the 6th Competition "Eratai" of San Giovanni Rotondo and the 4th International agree "garganum" Vico del Gargano. It is also a result of the ten finalists chamber groups in Cagliari for the "Abbado Prize 2015" (section Chamber Music). She will perform in concert on July 13 at the Cloister of Santa Chiara (Foggia) as part of the nineteenth edition of Music in the Courts of Capitana.
Il Duo Piccolo-Stoppiello debutta a Roma nell’aprile 2015, presso la Sala Accademica del “Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra”. Ha ottenuto il Primo Premio Assoluto al 6° Concorso “Eratai” di San Giovanni Rotondo ed al 4° Concordo Internazionale “garganum” di Vico del Gargano. É inoltre risultato tra i dieci gruppi da camera finalisti a Cagliari per il “Premio Abbado 2015″ (sezione Musica da camera). Si esibirà in concerto il prossimo 13 luglio presso il Chiostro di Santa Chiara (Foggia) nell’ambito della XIX edizione di Musica nelle Corti di Capitana.
