Located in Kolkata, West Bengal, the main cathedral hall has carved wooden pews and chairs along with a stained glass window to the west and intricate coloured artwork covering the eastern walls, including two Florentine frescoes. The church is 247 ft in long and 81 ft wide with a 201 ft high tower. The foundation for St Paul's Cathedral was laid in 1839. An earthquake destroyed the original 61-m high tower in 1897. It was rebuilt as a replica of the Bell Harry Tower. The life and work of St Paul is pictorially depicted. The Cathedral is set within huge grounds with several ancient trees, a meditation spot has been set up recently in collaboration with Shantiniketan.
