In this documentary, Jagjit Singh takes us on a journey with Sikh Scholar Sardar Ajmer Singh, Sikh Historian Jathedar Mohinder Singh, Senior Journalist Avtar Singh, and Scholar Kiranpreet Kaur to explain how Sikhs have fallen victim to this ideological siege. Akaal Channel decided to create this documentary based on Sardar Ajmer Singhs book as a visual guide to help educate the coming generation about the assault we are currently facing.

From 1947 till today, the present Indian state was trying to influence people with their ideology. That mainly consisted of nationalism which leads to the creation of Indian nationalism.

Your traditions, religion and unique identity are all linked to your language. Without your language, your identity will cease to exist.

If in a country like Australia, where over 250 languages have disappeared, then you can understand just how much an ideological siege affects minorities. In Turkey, in Russia, many languages have disappeared. Even in western countries such as Switzerland or Sweden, specific languages have disappeared.

Yet, the Punjabi language has been poorly treated by the Indian state, with many Hindi words being mixed within it. Because of this, the root words of Punjabi are disappearing, along with the pride, integrity and self-respect of the Sikhs.

When we look at world history, then the original natives of America were black. They have been torn away from their culture and heritage in such a way that their standing has completely changed within the country.

Freedom movements throughout world history have been led by that community’s scholars. They establish the targets and the procedure by which they will rebel. They will lead their people every step of the way Because they know how to predict events, foresight even. However, during this time, the Sikhs were left without intellectual leadership.

The younger and newer generation that did not know politics led the community on their pride and courage. Moreover, the scholars never once attempted to guide them. Either they kept away from the situation, or they stood firmly with the government. That does not usually happen. So this was another question that arose, why did this happen.

The Sikh religion has been recognised as a scientific religion by scholars worldwide. So in order to disprove this scientifically correct religion, the Indian state has written many books about it based on the ideas of the Manusimriti. So now, what should happen is that there should be a movement condemning this whole idea.


Akaal Channel, at the very least, has ensured that our base, our history, is being put forward correctly.

So we need to become more aware and more competent and counter everything that they try and do.
