India and Maharashtra batter Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a fighting hundred on Day 3 of the Group A game of Ranji Trophy 2024-25 against Mumbai on Sunday, October 20 at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai. The Maharashtra captain redeemed himself after being dismissed for a duck in the first innings and played a magnificent knock of 145 (171) in the second innings.

Gaikwad’s innings was studded with 16 fours and two sixes as he helped his team to eat away Mumbai’s massive lead of 315 in the first innings. He walked in to bat with Maharashtra reeling on 1/1 after opener Siddhesh Veer was dismissed for a duck by Shardul Thakur.

With his team in dire need of its captain, Gaikwad got involved in a massive 222-run stand with Sachin Dhas for the second wicket, who also scored a brilliant 98. He was finally dismissed by Shams Mulani for 145 caught by his Mumbai counterpart Ajinkya Rahane.

Apart from him, Ankit Bawne (101) also scored a magnificent hundred as Maharashtra were bundled out for 388 in the second innings setting Mumbai a target of 74 runs.

Yash Dhull becomes lone warrior for Delhi
Meanwhile, Yash Dhull also starred for Delhi in Group D fixture against Tamil Nadu as he brought up his sixth first-class century. Dhull scored an unbeaten 103 being the lone warrior for his team as Delhi were left reeling at 264/8 in their first innings in reply to Tamil Nadu’s massive score of 674/6.
