फीफा के एक फैसले का विरोध जताते हुए जर्मनी के खिलाड़ियों ने जापान के खिलाफ मैच से पहले अपने मुंह ढक लिए. इसके पीछे की वजह 'वन लव' आर्म बैंड है जिसे फीफा ने मैच के दौरान पहनने की इजाजत नहीं दी है.
