A Muslim woman from the Moolganj area in Kanpur faced harassment and abandonment by her family, religious leader, and co-religionists for wearing a saffron stole over her niqab. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, sought refuge at the police commissioner’s office, clad in a saffron dupatta, where she shared her ordeal with the media.

कानपुर में एक मुस्लिम महिला का कहना है जब वह नकाब के ऊपर भगवा रंग का स्टोल पहनती है तो उसे उसके परिवार और समुदाय के लोग परेशान और अपमानित करते हैं. सिर पर भगवा दुपट्टा लपेटकर पुलिस आयुक्त कार्यालय पहुंची महिला ने पत्रकारों से कहा, मैं उत्पीड़न और संपत्ति विवाद की चिंता को लेकर मुख्यमंत्री से मिलने गई थी. कई लोगों ने मुझसे कहा कि मैं अब एक हिंदू हूं और इसलिए शरिया कानून के अनुसार मैं किसी भी सहायता के पात्र नहीं हूं.
