24 अक्टूबर को इजरायल-हमास युद्ध को लेकर संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद की बैठक हुई. अमेरिका ने गाजा पर इजरायल के हमलों का समर्थन किया. संयुक्त राष्ट्र के महासचिव एंटोनियो गुटेरेस ने एक ऐसी बात बोल दी जो इजरायल को बुरी तरह चुभ गई... गुटेरेस ने कह दिया है हमास ने जो इजरायल पर हमला किया वो अचानक नहीं हुआ. इजरायल के विदेश मंत्री और राजदूत ने भरी सभा में हंगामा मचा दिया और फिर सीधे UN महासचिव का इस्तीफा ही मांग लिया.
