Record high imports of crude oil from Russia in fiscal 2022-23 helped India's refiners boost exports of diesel and jet fuel to Europe as the continent shunned Russian products, preliminary ship-tracking data from Kpler and Vortexa showed.

यूक्रेन युद्ध के बाद से भारत का रूस से कच्चा तेल आयात कई गुना बढ़ा है. अब जहाजों के ट्रैकिंग डेटा के आधार पर दावा किया जा रहा है कि भारतीय रिफाइनरियों ने रूसी कच्चे तेल को प्रॉसेस कर उसे यूरोप में निर्यात किया है. रूस अपने ऊपर लगे प्रतिबंधों के कारण सीधे तौर पर यूरोपीय देशों को तेल का निर्यात नहीं कर पा रहा है. इससे भारतीय रिफाइनरियां रिफाइंड उत्पादों को यूरोप में निर्यात करने और बाजार के बड़े हिस्से पर कब्जा करने में सक्षम हुई हैं.
