Jai HO! Democracy, Kaagaz Ke Fools | Movie Review | Komal Nahta

Renowned Film Critic and Trade Analyst, Komal Nahta reviews this week's two Hindi releases - Jai HO! Democracy and Kaagaz Ke Fools. Jai HO! Democracy stars talented actors like Annu Kapoor, Om Puri, Adil Hussain, Seema Biswas and other actors are very good and their performances definitely stand out. However, the screenplay is not very tight, hence it leaves the audience slightly irked as the scenes have been stretched quite a bit. The film is meant for the elitist audience and may not be liked by everyone. The opening day collections have been very low.
Kaagaz Ke Fools, that stars Vinay Pathak, Mughda Godse, Raima Sen, Saurabh Shukla and others, is the story of an honest writer and the issues he faces in his professional and personal life. The audience may feel that the thin screenplay has been stretched quite a bit and the drama, despite being true to life, starts seeming unrealistic. The narrative style and direction is good but the film may fail to work 'cause of the screenplay. The film will be an entertainer but in a limited way. The film has opened to a small section of audience and may end up being a box office dud.
The weekend seems to be dominated by the Hollywood release, 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'.
