Shiv Sena was founded in the year 1966 by Bal Thackeray. At that time the purpose of this party was to give priority to the people of the Marathi community in government jobs and to spread the Marathi language in Maharashtra. It is worth noting that the ideology of Hindutva was adopted by Shiv Sena in the 1980s.

शिवसेना की स्थापना वर्ष 1966 में बाल ठाकरे ने की थी. उस समय इस पार्टी का मकसद था सरकारी नौकरियों में मराठी समुदाय के लोगों को प्रथमिकता दिलवाना और महाराष्ट्र में मराठी भाषा का प्रचार-प्रसार करना. ध्यान देने वाली बात ये है कि हिन्दुत्व की विचारधारा को शिवसेना ने 1980 के दशक में अपनाया.
