102 Not Out Movie Review | Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor

Umesh Shukla, who made his directorial debut with ‘OMG Oh My God’ starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, teamed up with Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor for ‘102 Not Out’ and the film, which brings these two senior actors together on the silver screen after more than 20 years, released today. But kya ye film dekhne laayak hai? Aao pata karte hain…

The story is about 102-year-old Dattatray Vakharia (played by Amitabh Bachchan), jo apne boring bête Babulal (played by Rishi Kapoor) ko vridha-ashram bhejna chahte hai taaki woh stress avoid kar sake aur ‘longest living person’ ka record tod sake. When Babulal objects to this, Dattatray unke saamne kuch conditions rakhte hai, jo Babulal ko complete karne hai old age home mein nahi jaane ke liye.

What are these tasks? Will Babulal complete them or will he be sent to the old age home?

Amitabh and Rishi have worked together after 27 years and it is a treat to watch these two amazing actors. Jimit Trivedi, who plays Dattatray’s loyal sidekick Dhiru, is also entertaining enough

As for the story, the performances are decent, the writing is effective and the concept is novel. The film does make you laugh in its funny moments and brings a lump to your throat in the dramatic scenes. However, there is a flip side too…

Though the film ka first half is quite interesting, the second half becomes too predictable and revolves around issues like ungrateful kids staying abroad and the problems of old parents who do everything for their kids and get nothing in return, which is what we have seen in films like Baghban too.

But having said that, agar aapko ek saaf-suthri family film dekhni hai apne parivaar ke saath, ‘102 Not Out’ should not disappoint you.
