As the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on Tuesday to proclaim March 15 as International Day to Combat Islamophobia, India expressed concern over phobia against one religion being elevated to the level of an international day, saying there are growing contemporary forms of religiophobia, especially anti-Hindu, anti-Buddhist and anti-Sikh phobias.

United Nations ने यह मानते हुए कि दुनिया में इस्लाम और मुसलमानों के प्रति पूर्वग्रह व्याप्त है, हर वर्ष 15 मार्च को International Day to Combat Islamophobia मनाने के प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी दे दी. पाकिस्तान के राजदूत मुनीर अकरम ने मुस्लिम देशों के संगठन ओआईसी के प्रस्ताव को 193 सदस्यों वाली संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा के सामने रखा जिसे कई देशों के समर्थन से पास कर दिया गया, लेकिन भारत और फ्रांस ने इसका विरोध किया.
