Nanak Nam Jahaz Hai Starring Prithviraj Kapoor Restored For Release

Nanak Nam Jahaz Hai, the National Award-winning Punjabi film that released in 1969 is all-set to be re-released this year. The film has been restored for release this year by the Wave Group. In this episode of ETC Bollywood Business, Rahul Mittra, CEO - Wave Group and Raju Chadha, Chairman - Wave Group speak with Komal Nahta and talk about how they thought of releasing this film for the audience of today and what their expectations are from the film's big-scale release.

Interestingly, Nanak Nam Jahaz Hai is being called a competition to this week's big release, Tamasha that stars Ranbir Kapoor as the former film had starred his great-grandfather and celebrated actor, Prithviraj Kapoor.

Nanak Nam Jahaz Hai is a devotional film based on a true incident which took place at the Golden Temple, Amritsar, Punjab and revolves around Gurmukh Singh, played by Kapoor. The film was awarded the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Punjabi in 1970, and National Film Award for Best Music Direction. The film was also the first major hit Punjabi film of post-independent India.

Both the guests on the show talk about the upcoming projects they have at Wave Group and opine how the production and distribution group is focusing more on Tier-II cities as they get the first-mover advantage due to paucity of multiplexes in these cities.

Nanak Nam Jahaz Hai will release on November 27, 2015 and will be subtitled for the benefit of a worldwide audience.
